About me:

Irish-born, bought up on the Isle of Man and now living in Sweden. This blog was originally for documenting my journey from beginner-cyclist to full-blown racing cyclist and my recovery from drug, alcohol and food relationships. Now, after an 8 year hiatus I'm back on the bike and ready to share the next stage of my two-wheeled journey!

I first started cycling while living in London in March 2012 after deciding to enter the Hotchillee Alpine Challenge, the challenge, and the folks I entered with, encouraged me to quit smoking and drinking and from there my love for the sport grew. By October 2012 I began a structured training regime with coach Jamie at RPC Cyclecoach and began racing almost every week. In 2013 I was awarded the “Spirit of HotChillee” award for my ride in the London to Paris which resulted in me achieving a huge goal in contesting for the women's GC - giving me "the bug" for competition and taking my cycling to the next level. After moving back to the Isle of Man in 2014 I began working with coach Mike Doyle, and started to race all across the UK  as well as locally - building up a reasonable palmares for an eager amateur over the years.

I stopped racing in 2016 after moving to Sweden for work, and unfortunately stopped cycling entirely soon after due to a chronic autoimmune disorder. Now I'm back on the bike and my hope for this blog is to try and inspire more folks into taking up sports by sharing my journey.
